Trace Chophouse is an intimate, high-end dining venue at Oglebay Resort, created through a collaborative vision with LDL Studio to deliver a refined guest experience that blends craftsmanship, history, and modern elegance. Designed within a former reception space, the restaurant offers a warm, speakeasy-inspired atmosphere and has quickly become one of the resort’s most sought-after dining destinations.

Wheeling, West Virginia

As part of a resort-wide renovation funded by an Economic Development Administration grant and the Oglebay Foundation, LDL Studio transformed an underused lobby and private dining room into Trace Chophouse—a 40-seat fine dining experience defined by intimate scale and elevated design. Drawing inspiration from classic speakeasy lounges, the space features a restrained palette of leather, wood, and stone, custom furnishings, and a historically inspired toile wallcovering depicting the nearby Ohio River. A standout element is the integration of a preserved log cabin wall from the original 1950s Zane Cabin—honoring local history within a contemporary setting. Complete with a bespoke bar and mixology stations, Trace Chophouse has quickly become a premier destination, regularly booking out weeks in advance.
