Base Camp Villas
An immersive hospitality concept by LDL Studio, in collaboration with The Mills Group and Oglebay Resort, featuring three newly constructed, 2,400-square-foot two-bedroom villas adjacent to the P. Good Zoo's Pridelands exhibit. The two-level, safari-lodge-inspired villas offer direct, eye-level views into the lion habitat alongside premium amenities like king suites, great rooms, and kitchenettes.

LDL Studio, in collaboration with The Mills Group and Oglebay Resort, was commissioned to create a distinctive overnight guest experience within the P. Good Zoo, Oglebay's nationally recognized zoo and wildlife park.
The Base Camp – Lion Villas introduce an immersive hospitality concept that allows guests to experience the Pridelands exhibit from an extraordinary perspective. Three newly constructed, two-bedroom villas are strategically positioned adjacent to the lion habitat, offering direct views into the exhibit through expansive east-facing windows.
Designed to foster a unique connection between guests and wildlife, the villas provide eye-level and elevated viewing opportunities overlooking the lions' habitat, including animal sunning and cooling pads located near the guest room windows.
Each villa features approximately 2,400 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space across two levels. Accommodation includes a king guest suite, a double guest room, a great room, a dining area, and a kitchenette to support extended stays and family travel.
The interior design and branding draw inspiration from the character of a contemporary safari lodge while honoring Oglebay Resort's longstanding connection to nature and the surrounding landscape of Wheeling Park. Warm natural materials, refined rustic details, and immersive storytelling create a memorable guest experience that seamlessly blends luxury hospitality with wildlife conservation.
